Who provides Skyvw

Mattias Wetterlind, publishing as V1D, provides SKYVW and Skyvw Log from Sweden.

Data kept on your device

Skyvw stores settings, barometric altitude, flight phases, GPS tracks, HOME and landing positions, jump times, replay metrics, tags, notes, review flags, and saved weather or wind context locally. Cached map, terrain, weather and cloud data may also remain on the device. Android backup is disabled.

You can use the altimeter, simulator and local logbook without an account. You can delete individual jumps in the logbook, reset local data in the app, or remove local data by uninstalling Skyvw.

Location and sensor data

If you grant location permission, Skyvw processes precise or approximate location during an active recording, including while the app is not visible. This saves the route and supports HOME distance, maps and local weather. The barometer is used for altitude and flight-phase processing. If you decline location, the barometric altimeter and simulator remain available with fewer location-based features.

Network features and providers

Only features that need remote data make network requests. Depending on the feature you open, Skyvw sends a position, geographic area and time to the relevant provider. The provider also receives normal connection data such as your IP address and request time.

• Open-Meteo receives position and time for forecast and historical weather.
• AviationWeather.gov receives an area or station request for airport observations.
• EUMETSAT receives a geographic area and time for cloud imagery.
• The Skyvw aircraft proxy receives a geographic area for nearby aircraft.
• OpenStreetMap services receive map areas or positions for map objects, place names and nearby references.
• CARTO, Esri, AWS Open Data and GitHub Releases serve selected map, imagery, terrain or offline-map files.

Those providers process requests under their own terms and privacy policies. Skyvw does not send them your jump log, notes or Skyvw Log credentials.

Optional Skyvw Log

Skyvw Log is off until you explicitly pair and connect it. When connected, Skyvw sends jump tracks, altitude, timestamps, tags and related jump context to Skyvw Log at sky.v1d.io so the log can be synced. Pairing credentials are stored using Android Keystore-backed storage.

Deleting a synced jump in SKYVW sends a deletion request to Skyvw Log. Disconnecting stops future sync but does not by itself erase data already stored by the service. Synced jumps remain until you delete them or delete the account.

Ads, analytics and crash reporting

The current Play application contains no advertising, no third-party analytics SDK and no automatic crash-reporting service. Diagnostic reports are shared only when you deliberately use Android's share flow. If this changes, this policy and the Play Data Safety declaration will be updated before the changed version is distributed.

Retention and deletion

Local data remains until you delete it, reset app data or uninstall Skyvw. Remote-provider retention is governed by each provider's policy. To request access to or deletion of Skyvw Log account data, follow the instructions on the support page. Account deletion makes the account inaccessible immediately. Signing in during the next 14 days restores it; after that window the account and its database records are removed. Unlinked storage objects can remain until technical cleanup, without an account or public route that can retrieve them.

Security

Network requests use HTTPS. Skyvw Log credentials use Android Keystore-backed storage, and Android backup is disabled for the app. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Children

Skyvw is intended for adult skydivers and is not directed to children.

We may update this policy when the app or its services change. The effective date at the top changes with it. Privacy questions can be sent to adelost@gmail.com.
